Located at Snyder Field at Chewelah High School, this 180 sq ft mass timber press box is a small but significant step forward in sustainable design. The structure’s most innovative feature is its use of CLT studs made entirely from CLT offcuts—repurposed material that would otherwise go to waste. This innovative use is the first application of CLT studs in the US. Not only is construction waste reduced but this project also demonstrates a scalable framework for more responsible wood and CLT building practices. Though compact, the press box stands as a powerful example of how thoughtful design can lead to meaningful environmental impact.
