Architectural Designer

Matt Weigand

Matt is an architectural designer at PRESS with a background in photojournalism and digital media. After earning a journalism degree from Gonzaga University, he spent several years traveling the country as a photojournalist before pursuing his Master of Architecture at the University of Idaho. There, he gained hands-on experience through the design-build program, working on projects like the Moscow Chamber of Commerce remodel and co-instructing students on the Vandal Healing Garden and Memorial.

Matt’s approach to architecture is shaped by his storytelling roots—he strives to create clean, legible design that responds thoughtfully to context and solves complex challenges with clarity and care. He’s especially drawn to infill housing and budget-conscious design solutions that make a meaningful impact.

Matt is in love with Spokane and its unique character—from its historic neighborhoods and gritty charm to its access to the outdoors and strong sense of community. He’s passionate about contributing to the city’s growth through thoughtful design that reflects and enhances its identity.

Outside the office, Matt loves skiing, cooking, cheering on Notre Dame football, and keeping up with his energetic Border Collie mix, Lola, that he and his fiancé adopted in 2021.
